Trash AWAY, Inc.

Clean, Inc. was founded in 1969 by Loretto Desjardins, an interior designer. At the time, the D.C. suburbs were experiencing a building boom and a construction company where she had an existing relationship needed to make their model homes more appealing. Loretto offered her services and Clean, Inc. was founded.

As the number of residential condominiums and rental apartment communities increased in the 1970s, Clean, Inc. grasped the growth opportunity. By concentrating on cleaning only the common areas of condominium buildings, the company developed a niche market. Clean Inc. continued to grow, earning the business of many residential condominium and rental apartment buildings in the Washington, D.C. area. In 1997 many of the company’s customers were complaining about the myriad problems associated with dumpsters. The company was asked for a more efficient and effective trash removal service, spurring the founding of Trash AWAY, Inc.
